America’s National Independence Day Parade (Page 33)

National Independence Day Parade
The District of Columbia National Guard 257th Army Band kicks off the National Independence Day Parade, July 4 along Constitution Ave. in Washington, D.C. The 257th, known as the Band of the Nation’s Capital, has the honor of leading the elite marching units of each of the five uniformed services at the start of the annual holiday tradition. The parade draws thousands of spectators to the nation’s capital and is the prelude to a day filled with music, food, and fireworks in celebration of America’s independence. National Independence Day Parade

National Independence Day Parade is one of the most important and celebrated festivals in the country. The parade celebrates the independence of the nation and showcases the best of what the country has to offer. It is a colorful affair with marching bands, floats, and colorful costumes.

America’s National Independence Day Parade takes place annually on July 4th at 11:45 am in Washington, D.C., on Constitution Avenue from 7th to 17th Street before a street audience of hundreds of thousands of spectators. The Parade prominently features live bands, floats, fife and drum corps, equestrian drills, military and specialty units, giant balloons, national dignitaries, and celebrity participants. The Parade strives to showcase the real significance of independence Day to Americans. It is an American patriotic, flag-waving, red, white, and blue celebration of the birthday of the United States!

It features various military performers, contingents and invited guests, including the 257th Army Band, the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, the joint-service honor guard battalion of the Joint Force Headquarters National Capital Region, officers of the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia, and representatives of the foreign expatriate communities. It also includes nominated representatives of the high schools and colleges and cultural groups inside the DCPS and from each of the 50 states, Puerto Rico, and overseas territories

The Parade is co-hosted by the National Park Service and produced by Diversified Events, which is under contract to the National Park Service.

The parade will be streamed LIVE from the National Independence Day Parade Facebook page at 11:45 am EDT. You can also watch the parade at 5:00 pm EDT on our YouTube channel.
