SUMMARY:“How Long?”: Revisiting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and His Legacy
DESCRIPTION:“How Long?”: Revisiting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and His Legacy\nThe life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. are often hidden behind the continual replaying of a few lines from his “I Have a Dream” speech. In fact\, Dr. King’s real story — from unknown Baptist minister to an American civil rights leader and international human rights spokesperson — is deeper\, more subtle\, and more complex. \nAs we reflect on the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington and the 55th anniversary of Detroit’s Walk to Freedom and Dr. King’s assassination\, this limited-time exhibit allows us to reflect on his evolution and vision. \nHenry Ford Museum of American Innovation Ticket Prices\n\n\n\n   \nMember\nNonmember\n\n\n\n\nSenior (62+)\nFree\n$27.00\n\n\nGeneral Admission (12-61)\nFree\n$30.00\n\n\nYouth (5-11)\nFree\n$22.50\n\n\nChildren (4 & Under)\nFree\nFree\n\n\n\n\n* Ticket prices are subject to change. \n\nHenry Ford Museum of American Innovation\nAddress: 20900 Oakwood Blvd\, Dearborn\, MI 48124\, United States\nWebsite: https://www.thehenryford.org/\nHours: 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.\nPhone: +1 313-982-6001 \n\n  \n\nSource:  The Henry Ford Museum \n\n\nAbout The Henry Ford Museum\nThe Henry Ford Museum is a really cool place in Michigan where you can see lots of cool stuff from America’s history! SUMMARY:Rosa Parks Bus Can-Do Experience at The Henry Ford Museum
DESCRIPTION:Inside this bus on December 1\, 1955\, Rosa Parks\, a soft-spoken African-American seamstress\, refused to give up her seat to a white man\, challenging existing segregation laws. Many believe Rosa Parks’ act was the event that sparked the civil rights movement. \nThe Rosa Parks Bus is a historic artifact that symbolizes the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. It is the Montgomery\, Alabama city bus on which Rosa Parks\, an African American woman\, was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white person in 1955. This act of civil disobedience inspired the Montgomery Bus Boycott\, which lasted for over a year and helped to end segregation on public buses in the city. \nThe bus was restored and is now on display at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn\, Michigan. It serves as a powerful reminder of the courage and determination of Rosa Parks and the Civil Rights Movement\, and the impact of individuals on shaping a nation’s history. It also serves as an important educational tool for visitors to learn about this significant moment in American history. \n \nHenry Ford Museum of American Innovation Ticket Prices\n\n\n\n   \nMember\nNonmember\n\n\n\n\nSenior (62+)\nFree\n$27.00\n\n\nGeneral Admission (12-61)\nFree\n$30.00\n\n\nYouth (5-11)\nFree\n$22.50\n\n\nChildren (4 & Under)\nFree\nFree\n\n\n\n\n* Ticket prices are subject to change. \n\nHenry Ford Museum of American Innovation\nAddress: 20900 Oakwood Blvd\, Dearborn\, MI 48124\, United States\nWebsite: https://www.thehenryford.org/\nHours: 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.\nPhone: +1 313-982-6001 \n\n  \n\nSource:  The Henry Ford Museum \n\n\nAbout The Henry Ford Museum\nThe Henry Ford Museum is a really cool place in Michigan where you can see lots of cool stuff from America’s history! SUMMARY:Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2023
DESCRIPTION:Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2023 is a federal holiday that is observed on the third Monday of January each year. In 2023\, MLK Day will be celebrated on January 16th. This day is dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his contributions to the civil rights movement. \nDr. King was a Baptist minister and civil rights activist who played a key role in the American civil rights movement from the mid-1950s until his assassination in 1968. He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil disobedience based on his Christian beliefs. \nMartin Luther King Day was first observed as a federal holiday in 1986\, and it was officially signed into law by President Ronald Reagan. The holiday was created to honor Dr. King’s life and legacy and to encourage Americans to reflect on the civil rights movement and the ongoing fight for racial equality. \nOn this day\, people across the United States come together to celebrate and honor Dr. King’s legacy through various events and activities. Many communities hold parades and marches\, and there are also a number of educational and community service events that take place. \nOne of the most popular events on this day. is the annual Martin Luther King Service\, which is a national day of service that encourages Americans to volunteer in their local communities. This day is a great opportunity for people to come together and make a difference in their communities by participating in service projects\, volunteering at local organizations\, and donating to charitable causes. \nIn addition to these events\, many schools\, colleges\, and universities also hold special programs and events to commemorate MLK Day. These events often include guest speakers\, panel discussions\, and educational workshops that focus on the life and legacy of Dr. King and the civil rights movement. \nOverall\, Martin Luther King Day is a day for Americans to come together and reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his contributions to the civil rights movement. It’s a day to honor his legacy and recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of creating a more just and equitable society for all people.
